Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a recycling centre on Amenity Way in Morden.
Around 300-tonnes of mixed domestic refuse in a single storey open sided waste transfer station was alight. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1633 and the fire was under control by 1809. Fire crews from Sutton, Mitcham and Wallington fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
