Maisonette fire - Chiswick

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a maisonette on Wood Street in Chiswick.

Part of a maisonette on the second and third floor of a four-storey block was damaged by the fire. One man left the building before the Brigade arrived. Another man was rescued from the third floor via an internal staircase by crews wearing breathing apparatus. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 22 calls to the fire. 

The Brigade was called at  0525 and the fire was under control by 0637. Fire crews from Chiswick, Acton, Richmond and Hammersmith fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
