Redbridge
House or flat fire

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Empress Avenue in Ilford.

A lean-to next to a mid-terraced property was destroyed by the fire and part of the external fascia of the house was also damaged. There were no reports of any injuries.

Crews cooled two gas cylinders which were involved in the fire to an ambient temperature as cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 19 calls to the fire.

The Brigade was called at 1203 and the fire was under control at 1247. Fire crews from Ilford, Stratford and East Ham fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
