Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Edgar Road in Bromley-by-Bow.
Part of the ground floor of a mid-terraced house was damaged by the fire. Four people left the building before the Brigade arrived. Two men were treated on scene for smoke inhalation.
The Brigade was called at 1746 and the fire was under control by 1819. Fire crews from Poplar and Stratford fire stations attended.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
