Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire in Woodhouse Road in Barnet.
Twelve single storey garages, converted into units, were completely destroyed by the fire. The fire also destroyed three vehicles and a motorcycle. Firefighters acted quickly and were able to remove a number of gas cylinders from the blaze and cool them down as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 46 calls to the blaze.
The Brigade was called at 2035 and the fire was under control by 2350. Fire crews from Finchley, Southgate, Barnet, Hendon and Mill Hill fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
