Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a block of flats on the De Beauviour Estate, Hackney.
A small part of a first floor flat was damaged by fire. A man, a woman and two children left the property before the arrival of the Brigade and there were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1020 and the fire was under control by 1055. Fire crews from Islington, Shoreditch, Whitechapel and Stoke Newington fire stations attended the incident.
The fire is believed to have involved a washing machine.
