Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a grass fire near White Hart Lane in Romford.
The area of grass and shrub land damaged by the fire was roughly the size of two football pitches. Firefighters wore water backpacks and used beaters to tackle the fire.
The Brigade were called at 1518 and the fire was under control at 1641, crews from Wennington, Hainault and Dagenham attended the fire.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
