Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters were called to a flat fire on Wellington Way in Bow.

A small part of a five roomed flat on the tenth floor of a 22 storey block of flats was damaged by fire.

One woman from the flat where the fire started was treated on scene by London Ambulance service. Around 30 other residents self evacuated before the Brigade arrived.

The Brigade was called at 1744 and the incident was over by 1839. Fire crews from Poplar, Whitechapel, Stratford, Homerton and Leytonstone were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and due to an electrical fault within a wall mounted storage heater.
