Takeaway restaurant basement fire - Stratford

Fire at commercial property

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a takeaway and restaurant with a flats above on Leytonstone Road in Stratford.

A small part of the basement was damaged by fire.

Six people evacuated the building before the Brigade arrived. Two men were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

The Brigade was called at 2008 and the incident was over by 0036. Fire crews from Ilford, Bethnal Green, Homerton and Dagenham fire stations attended the incident.

The cause of the fire is believed to be due to an electrical fault in an electric intake cupboard.
