Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Lenham Road in Thornton Heath.
Part of the of the kitchen was damaged by the fire. One man was treated by London Ambulance Service crews on scene for smoke inhalation.
The Brigade was called at 2328 and the fire was under control by 2358. Fire crews from Norbury Fire Station attended.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police.
