Twelve fire engines and around 80 firefighters were called to a fire in a textile warehouse on Cricket Lane in Beckenham.

A single storey warehouse was damaged by fire. Around 30 people left the building before fire crews arrived.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “When firefighters arrived they were faced with a large fire in a warehouse. A large quantity of clothing was alight and the fire had spread to the roof of the building."

The Brigade's drone supplied pictures to incident commanders giving aerial views and thermal images.

The Brigade was called at 0821 on Wednesday (March 27) and the fire was under control at 1511 (March 28). Firefighters from Beckenham, Forest Hill, Woodside, West Norwood, Bromley, Greenwich, Norbury, Clapham, Milwall and other surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
