Croydon
House or flat fire

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Oakwood Avenue in Purley.

Part of the roof and a small part of the ground floor of the detached house were damaged by the fire. Part of the single-storey garage at a neighbouring property was also damaged.

Crews cooled a heating oil tank to an ambient temperature. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 1639 and the fire was under control by 1846. Fire crews from Woodside, Mitcham, Addington and Wallington fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
