Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled a small fire in a bin room of a block of flats on Oxestalls Road in Deptford.
Part of the ground floor bin chute was damaged by fire. A number of people left the 27 storey before fire crews arrived with other residents remaining safely inside their flats.
The Brigade was called at 2040 and the fire was under control by 2201. Firefighters from Deptford, Greenwich, New Cross, Dockhead, Old Kent Road, East Greenwich and Peckham fire stations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
