Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Wood Street in Walthamstow this morning.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus brought a man out of a second floor flat. Sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Part of the four roomed flat was destroyed in the fire.
The Brigade was called at 0716 and the incident was over by 0816. Fire crews from Walthamstow, Leyton and Leytonstone fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
