Five fire engines and around 30 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat in Thurston Road in Lewisham.
Part of a flat on the seventh floor of the building was damaged by fire.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued one woman who was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Services crews. Approximately 60 people left the building before the arrival of the Brigade.
The Brigade was called at 2132 and the fire was under control at 2249. Fire crews from Deptford, Lee Green, Forest Hill, Peckham and Old Kent Road fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
