Bexley
House or flat fire

Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters were called to a fire in a flat above a restaurant on Halfway Street, Sidcup.

A member of the public saw smoke coming from a window and alerted the occupant, who called the Brigade.

Part of a first floor flat above a restaurant was damaged by fire. One person left the property before the arrival of the Brigade. There were no reported injuries.

The Brigade was called at 0743 and the fire was under control by 0828. Fire crews from Sidcup Fire Station attended the scene.

The Brigade’s fire investigators believe the fire to be accidental due to failed lithium batteries from an electric bicycle.
