Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire in a kitchen at a school building on Bethune Road in Hackney.

A small part of the ground floor of the three-storey building was damaged by the fire. One man left the property before the arrival of the Brigade. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 0515 and the fire was under control by 0614. Fire crews from Stoke Newington, Holloway and Tottenham fire stations attended the scene.

The fire is believed to be accidental and caused by logs stored next to a bread oven igniting.
