Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Crossway in Woodford Green.
The kitchen in the semi-detached house was destroyed by the fire as well as a conservatory at the rear. A man suffering slight burns to his hands was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews and taken to hospital.
The Brigade was called at 1320 and the fire was under control by 1444. Fire crews from Woodford, Chingford and Ilford fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
