Five fire engines and 31 firefighter and officers were called to a fire in a block of flats on Navigation Road in Bromley-by-Bow last night.
A cupboard on the tenth floor of the twelve floored tower block was completely destroyed by fire and half of a cupboard on the floor directly above it was also damaged in the blaze. Fortunately, fire doors contained the fire to the cupboards.
The Brigade was called at 0134 and the incident was under control by 0230. Fire crews from Poplar, Stratford, Millwall and Homerton fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
