Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a block of flats in Bourdon Street, Mayfair.
Half of a flat on the first floor and part of a flat on the second floor were damaged by the fire. One man was rescued from the first floor by a member of the public before the Brigade arrived. He was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews. Another man was also treated at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 1122 and the fire was under control at 1244. Fire crews from Soho, Euston, Lambeth, Dowgate and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The Brigade's 999 Control took 12 calls to the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
