A flat on Romford Road in Manor Park, E12, was damaged by fire in the early hours of Monday morning.
Around half of the three roomed, first floor flat was damaged by fire. There were no reports of injuries.
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers from Ilford, Barking and Walthamstow were at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 0018 and the fire was under control by 0109.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed to have started accidentally.
