Woman escapes fire - Plumstead

A fire broke out in a maisonette on Perrott Street in Plumstead, SE18, on Saturday (21st July). The fire damaged part of the top floor of the maisonette, which is on the second and third floors of the four storey block.

A woman was home when the fire started; she managed to escape before firefighters arrived on the scene and was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

The Brigade was called at 1155 and the fire was under control by 1249.

Four fire engines and 25 firefighters from Plumstead, Bexley, Eltham and Erith attended the incident.

Fire invesigators believe the fire may have been caused by a rechargeable power pack for a mobile phone.
