Marylebone - hotel fire

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a small fire at a hotel on Welbeck Street, Marylebone.

A store cupboard was damaged by fire and a number of gas cylinders were removed from the room as a precaution. One hundred and sixty people were evacuated from the premises and were quickly allowed to return.

The Brigade was called at 0710 and the fire was under control at 0816. Fire crews from Euston, Soho and Paddington fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical.
