A man sadly died in a fire this morning in a flat on Hornsey Rise Gardens, Islington.
Two fire engines and 14 firefighters and officers were called to the scene.
The ground floor flat was badly damaged by the blaze. A woman was rescued from a first floor flat by fire crews using breathing equipment. She was suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 0530 and the fire was under control by 0630. Fire crews from Holloway and Hornsey fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service.
