Ilford - flat fire

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to house converted into flats on Belgrave Road in Ilford yesterday evening.

A large part of a first floor flat was damaged by fire. One lady was rescued by crews wearing breathing apparatus and was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. A lady and two children evacuated from a neighbouring property and were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance service.

The Brigade was called at 1705 and the incident was under control by 1814. Fire crews from Ilford, Barking and Stratford fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service.
