Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a fast food restaurant in The Avenue, Chingford in the early hours of this morning.
Part of the fast food outlet and a small part of the first floor flat was damaged by the fire. A woman on the first floor was alerted by her smoke alarm and left the building before the Brigade arrived.
The Brigade’s fire investigators believe the fire started in the building’s extraction system on the ground floor.
The Brigade was called at 0222 and the fire was under control at 0410. Fire crews from Woodford, Chingford and Walthamstow fire stations attended the scene
