Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a block of flats in Field Road, Fulham.
A small part of a third floor flat was damaged by fire. One man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service. Sadly, he later died in hospital.
The Brigade was called at 1554 and the fire was under control at 1617. Fire crews from Fulham, Chelsea, and Hammersmith from fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
