Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a building under refurbishment in Southampton Row in Holborn.
Part of the basement of the building was damaged by fire.
The Brigade was called at 1009 and the fire was under control at 1050. Fire crews from Soho, Euston and Islington fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service.
