Tottenham - fire in sheltered accommodation block

A woman has sadly died in hospital following a fire in a sheltered accommodation block on Latimer Road in Tottenham yesterday evening (Wednesday, 4 October).
 
The fire damaged a three roomed flat on the second floor of the four storey block.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued the woman from the flat and she was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service where she died on Thursday (5 October).

Two further people were led to safety by firefighters via an internal staircase during the incident.
 
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers from Tottenham, Stoke Newington and Holloway fire stations were at the scene.
 
The Brigade was called at 1931 and the incident was over at  2041. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
