Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers were called to a house fire on Hillside Road in Pinner this evening.

The roof of the two storey detached house was gutted by the fire and half of the first floor was also damaged by the blaze.  Fortunately no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is believed to be candles.

London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:

"Candles are one of the most common causes of fire. It’s really important that you never leave a candle unattended and keep them away from curtains and anything else that can easily catch fire.”

The Brigade was called at 2126 and the fire was under control by 2319.  Fire crews from Harrow, Ruislip, Northolt and Stanmore fire stations were at the scene.
