House or flat fire

Two fire engines and around 14 firefighters and officers were called to reports of a fire at a house in Addiscombe Road in Croydon this morning.

Part of the airing cupboard on the first floor of the property was damaged by heat and smoke.

The property was fitted with smoke alarms which alerted the occupier, who immediately called the Brigade.

The Croydon Tramlink was temporarily suspended between East Croydon and Sandilands while firefighters were at the scene. The line reopened shortly after 0810.

The Brigade was called at 0735 and the incident was over at 0753. Two fire engines from Croydon fire station attended the scene.
