Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a car storage yard on Peterwood Way in Purley Way this morning.
Eight cars were destroyed by the blaze and 35 were partly damaged.
The cause of the blaze is believed to be a bonfire that 'got out of control'.
The Brigade was called at 0846 and the fire was under control by 1000. Firefighters from Croydon, Wallington and Norbury fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
