Fire at commercial property

Firefighters quickly contain a fire in a Greenwich pub on Woolwich Road last night.

The small fire was contained to an office and there was smoke damage throughout the public house. A smoke alarm sounded and alerted the residents above. Around 20 people evacuated before the Brigade arrived. There were no injuries.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.

The Brigade was called at 2128 and the fire was under control by 2232. Fire crews from East Greenwich, Greenwich, Deptford and Poplar attended the scene.
