Four fire engines and around 21 firefighters and officers were called to a blaze in a derelict terraced house on Wouldham Road in Canning Town.   The Brigade attended in the early hours of this morning after a passer-by called 999.

The whole of the roof was gutted by fire, and part of the first floor rear bedroom and living room on the ground floor of the two floored property were damaged in the blaze.

The Brigade was called at 0023 and the fire was under control by 0140.  Fire crews from Plaistow, East Ham, Whitechapel and Millwall fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.
