A man has died in hospital after he sustained burns in his flat in New City Road, Plaistow earlier this month.
Two fire engines were called to a ground floor property on 6 January. Firefighters found no fire at the property and one man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
He remained in hospital where he sadly died on 30 January.
The Brigade was called at 1445 on 6 January and the incident was over at 1510. Fire crews from Plaistow and Stratford fire stations attended the scene.
