London Bridge Underground Station - escalator motor fire

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to London Bridge Underground Station this morning.

Crews were called to reports of smoke issuing from a motor underneath an escalator. The station’s sprinkler system operated and contained the small  fire.

Approximately 900 people were evacuated from the station before the arrival of the Brigade.

The Brigade was called at 1145 and the incident was over for the Brigade at 1254. Fire crews from Dowgate, Dockhead, Old Kent Road and Shadwell fire stations attended the scene.
