Firefighters rescued a teenager from underneath a van on Poynders Road in Clapham this morning.

Fire crews used air bags to lift the vehicle and release the young woman. She was then taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Watch Manager Steve Howlett said:

“It was a great team effort from all members of the emergency services to help free the young woman and get her immediate treatment. She was conscious and breathing throughout and thankfully it appears her injuries are not life changing. It’s not just fires that we deal with and I was proud of the professionalism of everyone involved and proves why multi agency training is so important.”

The Brigade was called at 0807 and the incident was over for us 0839. Firefighters from Clapham, Tooting and Battersea fire stations were at the scene.
