Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a building converted into offices on Gowers Walk in Whitechapel yesterday afternoon.
Part of a third floor office in the six storey office block was damaged by fire. Around 130 people evacuated the building before the Brigade arrived. No injuries are reported.
The Brigade was called at 1653 and the fire was under control by 1831. Fire crews from Shadwell, Dowgate, Shoreditch and Dockhead fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire was accidental due to a faulty light fitting.
