Three fire engines and 14 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a block of flats in Rheola Close in Tottenham Hale.

Part of a flat on the ground floor of the building was damaged by fire.

One woman was rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.

Six people left the building before the arrival of the Brigade and a further 10 people were assisted from smoke logged floors by crews wearing breathing apparatus.

The Brigade was called at 2210 and the fire was under control at 0000 (Wednesday, December 6). Fire crews from Tottenham and Edmonton fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
