Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers dealt with a fire at a car repair workshop on Morris Road in Manor Park this morning.

Most of the workshop was damaged by fire and one car was removed due to damage in the blaze. Gas cylinders were involved in the fire and a temporary hazard zone was set up around the affected area as a precaution, as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

One man left the property before the Brigade arrived and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.

Firefighters from Stratford, Homerton, Leytonstone, Leyton, Plaistow fire stations attended the incident.  The Brigade was called at 1015 and the incident was under control by 1343.

The cause of the fire is believed to be due to an electrical fault.
