Firefighters were called to a small kitchen fire on the eighth floor of the Gherkin on St Mary Axe in the City this morning
Around 140 people were evacuated from level eight and nine of the building before the Brigade arrived. The fire damaged a small part of a kitchen area and crews ventilated the eighth floor.
The Brigade was called at 1039 and was under control by 1122. Crews from Dowgate, Whitechapel, Shoreditch and Shadwell fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
