Hornchurch - 20 '999' calls as range of sheds catch fire

Four fire engines and around 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire in a range of sheds at the rear of Abbs Cross Lane in Hornchurch this afternoon.

The fire gutted three sheds and left two vehicles damaged. During the early stages of the fire smoke was visible across the local area and the Brigade’s 999 control officers took more than 20 emergency calls to the incident.

The Brigade was called at 1209 and the fire was under control at 1249. Crews from Harold Hill, Barking and Walthamstow fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
