Two fire engines and 14 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a house in England Way, New Malden.
Part of the first floor of the property was damaged by fire. Sadly one man was found dead upstairs in the property by firefighters.
The Brigade was called at 1456 and the fire was under control at 1553. Fire crews from Kingston fire station attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
