Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a house in Studley Road, Forest Gate.
Part of the first floor of the property was damaged by fire.
The Brigade was called at 2112 and the fire was under control at 2132. Fire crews were called at East Ham, Leyton and Ilford fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
