Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire in a basement in Milton Avenue, East Ham.
Part of a basement in a detached house was damaged by fire.
The Brigade was called at 0851 and the fire was under control by 0952. Fire crews from East Ham, Plaistow, Stratford and Leytonstone fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
