Burst water main in Camberwell

Four fire engines and a fire rescue unit were called to a burst water main in Camberwell New Road this morning.

Approximately 20 properties are believed to have been affected by water. Crews distributed sandbags to prevent flood water from entering properties and the water was diverted into the main drain.

No properties were evacuated as a result of the burst water main. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

The Brigade was called at 0730 and the incident was over for crews at 1028. Fire crews from Peckham, Brixton, Lambeth and Lewisham fire stations attended the scene.
