Two people rescued in Streatham house fire

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man and a woman from a house fire on Streatham Road in Streatham yesterday evening.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to the fire in a two storey terraced house. Part of the kitchen was damaged by the blaze.

Fire crews attending the scene rescued the man and woman from the hallway. They were both suffering from smoke inhalation and were treated by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade was called at 1755 and the fire was under control by 1846. Fire crews from Mitcham, Tooting and Norbury fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
