Shoreditch - fire in derelict railway arch

Five fire engines and around 30 firefighters and officers were called to a fire in a derelict railway arch on Braithwaite Street in Shoreditch this afternoon

The railway arch is close to Shoreditch High Street station. Around  two tonnes of loose rubbish under the arch were alight and crews have cooled an LPG cylinder which was involved in the fire. Crews are still at the scene damping down remaining hot-spots.

The Brigade was called at 1407 and the fire was under control by 1737. Firefighters from Shoreditch, Whitechapel, Dockhead, Dowgate and Poplar fire stations are attending the incident.  

The cause of the fire is under investigation by London Fire Brigade and British Transport Police.
