Firefighters dealt with a fire in the basement of a shop on Porchester Road in Bayswater yesterday afternoon.
The fire damaged part of the basement and there was heavy smoke logging throughout the building.
Three people left the shop before the arrival of the Brigade. Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus assisted one further person to safety. Two more people self evacuated the flats above. Thankfully nobody was injured.
The Brigade was called at 1739 and the fire was under control by 1914. Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers from Paddington, Kensington and North Kensington fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire in under investigation.
