Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to flat fire on Bournemouth Road in Peckham this afternoon. The fire badly damaged a flat on the fifth floor.
A woman was led to safety by fire crews. She was suffering from smoke inhalation and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 1241 and the fire was under control by 1355. Fire crews from Peckham, New Cross, Dockhead and Brixton fire stations were at the scene. The cause is under investigation by fire officers and the police.
